The
wilderness creates a unique and powerul environment
in which to effect profound change in struggling
youth. Mother Nature cannot be manipulated by
a hostile, defiant teen. The nature of the program
creates an atmosphere where young people learn
the value of cooperation and the natural consequences
of behavior. However, no child's negative behavior
is ever allowed to progress to a point where
they endanger themselves in the outdoor environment.
We
approach treatment by considering the whole
child and the family. Our well-rounded approach
allows us to address the complex issues your
adolescent may be experiencing, such as academic
problems, relationship issues, rebelliousnes,
lack of motivation, and other self-defeating
behaviors. Key
components of the program include the following
items: a thorough diagnostic assessment, a four-tiered
level system, individual, family, and group
therapy, a credentialed school curriculum, recreational
and experiential activities and a parent workshop
where parenting and relationship skills are
strengthened. This is also the time the child
reunites with family within the beautiful, high
desert and timbered plateaus of Southern Utah.
All are provided by a caring and supportive
team of mental health professionals.
